Why You Want to Stop Using Conventional Cookware and What to Use Instead



Why do you want to stop using harmful cookware?

Conventional cookware such as non-stick pans, typically contain a chemical called perfluorooctanoic acid also known as POFA or C8 that has been found in the body and can remain for extended periods of time as is not easily removed from the body. Scary thought to think that these harmful chemicals can be floating around in the body, causing inflammation and unwanted health problems, right?

Unfortunately, chemicals found in conventional cookware have been linked to child development delays, high cholesterol, neurotoxicity, thyroid and liver diseases, allergies, and cancer to name a few. Therefore, you want to avoid the use of non-stick cookware, aluminum cookware (aluminum has been linked to Alzheimer’s), speckled metalware, and silicone cookware.

So what are the best options?

-Cast iron: considered one of the safest as it does great with heat, does not contain other chemicals, and is free of POFA.

-Stainless steel: will not leach into food and safe as long as there is no damage to the lining.

-Glass: is non toxic, durable, and perfect for oven use.
