Using Coffee Enemas for Detoxing the Body

In the times of the early Egyptians and Greeks, the practice of colon cleansing was quite popular due to its many health benefits and in recognition of the importance of good colon health.

Fast forward to the 1900s, a time in which medicine was evolving as was the investigation for natural alternatives to healing. Dr. Bernard Jensen, a respected authority in the area of natural healing, promoted the practice of colon cleansing because as he believed, “Death begins in the colon.”

It has been estimated that the body can carry anywhere from 1-5 lbs of impacted waste in the intestines (especially if you suffer from chronic constipation). With all that waste just “sitting” there, can you imagine all the bacteria brewing inside?

Now, colon hydrotherapy and coffee enamas are being included in many gut healing treatments as a way to help the body rid of toxins and harmful pathogens that sometimes the body is unable to process by itself.

What is a coffee enema?

A coffee enama is a type of colon cleanse commonly used in the alternative medicine field. The colon is irrigated with a mixture of organic coffee and purified water to help cleanse the colon of toxins and build up.

What are the benefits of a coffee enama?

The colon is responsible for helping process and remove toxins from the body. However, over time, lifestyle habits can affect the body’s ability to detoxify properly. Therefore, it is then that coffee enemas can be a good option for cleansing the colon. Benefits of a coffee enema include:

-helps boost energy levels

-supports immunity

-can help the body rid of fungus

-can help improve autoimmune disease

-can help remove parasites from the digestive tract

-can assist in removing heavy metals from the body

-great way to promote weight loss

-assists digestion and bile flow

-can help relieve bloating

-boosts liver function

How do you know if you have a toxic colon?

If you are experiencing some if not all of the following, your colon may be in need of a cleanse:

  1. Constant abdominal discomfort.

  2. Unexplained weight gain

  3. Excessive fatigue

  4. Brain fog

  5. Indigestion/bloating/constipation/gas

  6. Nutritional deficiencies

  7. Bad breath

How do you do a coffee enema?

Before performing a coffee enema yourself, make sure to speak to a professional about your health history, how often you need an enema, and if it is even a good therapy for you.

Items you will need:

-organic coffee

-enema system (kit)

-towels

-lubricant

Steps for preparing a coffee enema:

  1. Brew 2 tbsp of organic coffee (should be organic as you want it to be free of pesticides and additives), in 1 liter of distilled water. Also, make sure to brew in a clean coffee maker and that no grounds are left in the coffee.

  2. Allow the mixture to cool.

  3. Place towels where you will be lying down (on your left side) and make sure to pick a place close to the bathroom as you may need to use urgently.

  4. Instill water mixture into rectum using the kit (allow as much as you can hold but do not force solution in). Hold in for 10-15 minutes.

  5. Upon waiting, try to use the bathroom to empty bowel.

  6. Repeat as instructed by the health professional.

Potential side effects of coffee enemas

If done properly, side effects should be minimal, if any at all. However, some may experience:

-rectal burns (when using solution that is still too hot)

-nausea

-vomiting

-cramping

-bloating

-dehydration

-bowel perforation

-infection due to using unsterilized equipment
